Bed is too small for my tiredness...

365 Outtake or "Someone please help me!"

Bed is too small for my tiredness,
Give me a hilltop with trees.
Rock me to sleep in a cradle of dreams,
Send me a lullaby of leaves.

This is a beautiful photo. The poem is perfect.

If you know who wrote it, pass along my compliments if you can..

It was in the newest issue of Babybug magazine, credited to anonymous. Don't you love the first line?

I love all four lines. The first line speaks to the kind of fatigue only a mother with a baby can feel. Unreal at times.

Overall, it reminds me of sleeping in my childhood backyard on summer nights, out in the open but feeling completely secure.

It's a song... a lovely lullaby in a minor key. My nephew, six months old, conks out by about the third repetition. I found this blog while Googling to see if there were more verses than the two I know, but there don't seem to be any more.

Second verse:

"Rock me to sleep in a cradle of dreams,
Send me a lullaby of leaves,
Tuck a cloud up under my chin -
Lord, blow the moon out, please."

I learned this from a Girl Guides of Canada songbook, mid 1980s.
